Artist Statement:
Using unspun wool fibre and feltmaking techniques along with unexpected objects and materials, I address themes of protection, perception, consumer culture, environment and social engagement. In my work “Transformation” Life cycles silently occur and continue without notice. Whether we neglect or intervene, we are at the mercy of these processes. I express these transformations utilizing humble materials, seeking the primal emotions we feel at pivotal moments.

Biography:
Andrea, a multi-media artist residing in rural Ontario, exhibits and teaches internationally. A 2013 Niche Award Finalist and named as one of the top influences in contemporary fibre art by Fiber Art Now magazine, Andrea is collected by Sonny Kamm and the Bronfman family’s Claridge Inc. Collection. Widely published and recognised as an innovator, she is regularly supported by provincial and local arts councils. Andrea will have a solo exhibition at the Canadian Guild of Craft (2015) and in Verona, Italy following a joint exhibition at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum (2014). A solo at Modern Fuel in Kingston, Ontario follows her solo in Prato, Italy. Andrea was Artist in Residence at Queen's University (2011) and has taught workshop
