Artist Statement:
“The One Nation Banknote Series” is an ongoing project that foretells stories, dealing with an idea of the Utopia and the end or beginning of the world. The banknotes confront indictments of the exploitation by the strong of the weak- taking influence from myths, religious stories and reality-they are currency for a fictional country called the One Nation.

Biography:
JooYeon Judy Yang is New York based Korean artist. She works and lives in Long Island City, New York. She earned her BFA in Painting and Drawing degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2005, and Post-Baccalaureate degree in Studio at the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2006. She earned a MFA/Painting degree from Pratt Institute Brooklyn, NY in 2012. She attended the Vermont Studio Center Residency for painting in 2013 for four weeks and in 2016 for two weeks printmaking VSC Residency. She also attended five week residency program at the Mass MoCA artist studio program in 2016.
