Artist Statement:
The cast-off shards of pottery in these works are reimagined as contemporary heroines. In collaging them together into portraits based on 19th century silhouettes, I invent characters, explore the boundaries of technology and the handmade, and bring together layers of time.

Elizabeth Duffy is a multidisciplinary artist whose work engages practices of process-based drawing, installation, sculpture and photo. Her work is influenced by feminist art, an itinerant way of life, and the confluence of art with everyday life.
