Artist Statement:
“The artist’s life nourishes itself on the particular, the concrete…” -SPMy inspiration is often the human figure, idolized, isolated bodies against darkness or patterned backgrounds. These patterns are inspired by those found in textiles, nature, and personal narrative. The juxtaposition challenges the figure's relevance to that which outlasts the body.
I paint as a philosopher might question, seeking visual harmony, layer after layer, and pursuing the truth of each composition or story.
