Artist Statement:
In my paintings, variations of marks, from improvisational brushstrokes to detailed pattern work, create networks. I chose specific color palettes and a variety of textures to evoke the varied emotions from human experience. Within my art, biomorphic forms exist in conjunction with elements of whimsy & glamour. I hope the viewer is able to experience the climactic highs & lows of one of my pieces like when one listens to a symphony.

Jessica Soininen-Eddis is a contemporary visual artist currently living and working outside NYC. Jessica received her BFA in painting from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). While there, she was selected to study abroad as part of RISD’s European Honors Program, and spent the year living, studying and making art in Rome. Her time in Rome continues to influence her art today. Jessica also received her MFA in painting and drawing from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Jessica has one body of work of sculptural paintings that include women's and children's garments & textiles. She also is currently combining elements of abstraction, pattern and fashion in what she calls "The Glamour Series."
