Artist Statement:

My paintings elevate the ordinary objects that I find in my home or on the floor of my studio. Although small, my minutely observed paintings describe the larger worlds of my immediate environment and psyche. Their small scale and finely rendered details draw viewers close and invite them to enter the quiet, deceptively deadpan world of the paintings.

I'm currently working on a series of paintings of my great-great grandmother's doilies, of which the painting Time is a part.

Biography:

Cathrine recently received her MFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. She was born and currently lives in Washington DC. She teaches high school art in Northern Virginia.
