Artist Statement:
I paint from found landscape images and insert abstract forms into the composition. I choose barren landscapes that suggest geological memory and time on a grand scale. Bifurcating color schemes heighten the tension of interaction between representation and abstraction. The abstract shapes suggest their referent, but resist interpretation. I arrange them in a way that is reminiscent of neoclassical compositional techniques. The result is an appeal to memory that continually evades resolution.

Scott Robinson was born in Valdosta, Georgia and currently lives and works in
Brooklyn, New York. He received his MFA from the University of Florida in 2010 and his BFA from Valdosta State University in 2006. His work was
