Artist Statement:
I am interested in absurdity because it generates a cognitive creative process, especially absurdity reflecting an existing system. Absurdity is also an affective way to critique, to speak about problems around us, social, political and economical. I'm a constant explorer of places and local connotations of literature, philosophy and critical theory. Unfolding everyday practices and cultural context, my work reflects my environment and invites the viewer to investigate, critique or laugh with me

Born and raised in Stockholm, Anna Sörenson received her BFA from Umeå University in northern Sweden. In 2012, Anna received her MFA from Pratt Institute supported by her Fulbright Scholarship. She assembled her first solo exhibition in the fall of 2012, at Ed Varie in New York City, highlighting her works on paper. Her second solo show at Opus Project Space in New York focused on her collage and text works. In the beginning of 2013 she had her first solo show in Stockholm at Wip:Konsthall and in March she did her first performance at Cigarrvägen 13. She is now enrolled in a.pass, a post master performance program in Brussels, Belgium.
