Artist Statement:
I’m concerned with questions that involve time, space, life and death. My research encompasses psychology, metaphysics and quantum mechanics. I often create geometric structures that are references to portals, which represent a gateway into parallel universes. My art plays with void versus solid, structure versus chaos, as well as illusion and scale, in hopes to give the observer a different perspective of the whole in relation to the self.

Brazilian, Sabrina Barrios completed her BFA in Graphic Design (UFSM, 2004) before relocating to London and São Paulo. In 2009 she moved to New York to complete her MFA at Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute (2012).

Sabrina’s recent exhibitions include immersive experiences like Coup D’etat: How They Did It and How To Resist (The Wassaic Project and Snug Harbor Cultural Center, NY, 2016), The Horse Rider and The Eagle–Bains Connective (Belgium, 2016), Atlantis–Aabenraa Biennial for Contemporary Art (Denmark, 2015), How to Build a Portal to a Hidden Dimension–Paseo Taos (NM, 2015), Zero–Laboratory Spokane (WA, 2015), Dumbo Arts Festival (NY, 2014), Harlem Art Factory (NY, 2013) and In Finities (Brooklyn, 2012).
